Kassandra Timothe was born and raised in North Miami, just blocks away from W.J. Bryan Elementary and North Miami Middle, where she attended grade school. A proud North Miami native, she continues to live, work, and serve in the heart of District 2. Her passion for the community began at 15 when she started working at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). Over the years, she advanced from summer camp counselor to Bond Education Outreach Coordinator, and later joined city officials in Washington, D.C. when MOCA received the National Medal for Museum and Library Services.
With more than a decade of governmental experience, Kassandra earned her Political Science degree from the University of South Florida in 2012 and a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University in 2020. She began her legislative career with the Florida Legislature, serving State Representative Janet Cruz and Senator Arthenia Joyner, and later worked as Legislative Aide to Tampa City Councilwoman Lisa Montelione. In 2015, she returned home to North Miami as the City’s Public Information Officer before resigning to run for office.
On June 1, 2021, Kassandra made history as the first Black person, the first woman of Haitian descent, and the youngest individual elected to represent North Miami’s District 2. Today, she serves a four-year term representing the neighborhoods of Palomar, San Souci, Iron Manors, and Downtown North Miami. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kassandra is a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt who is committed to creating meaningful change, starting with her hometown.
